The Office of Legal Affairs (OLA) is seeking interns for the period November 2022 to February 2023 for its six (6) departments in New York. We are looking for highly motivated PhD students or students who wish to gain professional experience in international law within an international organization to complement their studies. This internship includes a hands-on educational experience that offers the opportunity to work in a multicultural intergovernmental organization. Under the supervision of legal counsel, articling students work on projects and tasks assigned to them, including tasks related to their education and interests. Interns have the opportunity to apply and develop their theoretical knowledge. Admission to the OLA internship program is very competitive. Interns are generally expected to perform tasks related to ongoing projects under the supervision of OLA legal counsel. To be considered for an internship at the UNCITRAL Secretariat, interested candidates must apply for the specific job offer through the UN Careers Portal under careers.un.org. Competencies PROFESSIONALISM: Candidates should demonstrate a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and be personally committed to the ideals of the Charter of the United Nations. You must be able to work effectively in a team and in a multicultural environment, collaborating with colleagues and external colleagues. In addition, they must have good design and oral communication skills, and have computer skills in standard software applications.
